Some days you wake up and feel like Superman (part 3 of 3)

(continued from yesterday - read Sunday's post first)

“The office WAS in Edison, but they moved.” I am so dead.

“Where did they move to?”

“Iselin.”, he says.

“Where the $%#@ is Iselin?”

It turns out that he doesn’t know either, but Streets and Trips (again) tells me that it is just 2 exits up from Edison, so I hit the road again.

Now the time is about 7:40 when Al calls me back with direction to the office. I drive right to it. Luckily it is just off the Turnpike (or was it the Parkway?). I get into the building and just in case, I ask the guard what floor has our office. She confirms the floor just as the lady beside me says “Just follow me. That’s where I’m headed.” She happened to be a fellow employee on her way into work.

I explain my problem on the way up in the elevator. She let’s me in and takes my right to an open cube with the long sought network cable. The fix takes all of 2 minutes and after a brief thank you, I am back on the road headed for the customer site. If only I could fix all my customer issues so fast.

Now it is 8:00 and my destination is about 1:15 away. Given what I have accomplished, 15 minutes late is not a problem. I let Al know and he promises to inform the customer.

So by 9:15, I feel like I’ve already worked a whole day. Even so, I’m ready to get in and get to work. I find Al in the lobby waiting for his contact to come down and escort him in. I would have been standing there with him had I been on time, so I was not delayed at all. The escort arrives about 5 minutes later. I tell them I have one more stop to make before starting. In all of the excitement I haven’t gone to the john since about 5:26 this morning.

So you probably figured that that was the end of the adventure, but no. This day had one more curve to throw at me. As I’m standing in the men’s room conducting my overdue business, the fire alarm for the building blares out. A voice on the intercom tells me that I should “discontinue all activities” and exit the building. Well I’m just as sorry as I can be, but this is one activity that I’m completing. It only takes about another minute.

So Al and I spend the next 15 minutes or so in the parking lot planning the work day and shooting the breeze. It was a beautiful New Jersey day so I was good with that.

I’m finishing up this story while I’m on the jet, on my way to my next assignment. That trip was successful thanks to the repair of the laptop and my wild adventure. You can bet that I’ll be more careful about my logons for a long time to come. I think I’ll try to make this week’s trip as boring as possible. I wish for you that you get to choose your own adventures. Having them chosen for you will take years off your life.

Wow, really amazing! Liked it. To spread the word, as Oberon told, I think the best way is to exchange link with other blogs around. That's the best way. Hit me if u want a link exchange with me (send me a mail).

been eading ur blog for a week now, nice articles you got but it would have
been great if ur blog template is of eye catching design. Try searching Google
for blogspot template or try Gecko and Fly's
blogspot template.
Good article should come with good design.

That was good story.

I've never really felt like Superman. On the other hand, I have felt like Aqua-Man.

You do have a lot of comments here! It was an interesting story. Nice narrative style.

I liked the posts about Mexico too! Funny. It sounded like you'd be there for a while, & then suddenly you posted from back home, so if you decide to turn those posts into short stories I'd clarify the timeframe earlier.

Cheers!
