Odds and Ends

I've made the leap into the WPBT (World Poker Blogger Tour). I'm headed to the summer event in Las Vegas this July. The event will be held in Ceasar's new poker room July 8, 2006 with festivities starting at 10 am. That is just horendously early for poker players. Hopefully that will work to my advantage. That event gets me a scheduled trip to Vegas in June, July, and August. Whooho. I'm looking most forward to meeting many of the bloggers that I've been reading and seeing my friends from www.lasvegasvegas.com again.

Hooters is running a special this month. 20 wings are half price. Mrs. K insists (no joke) that we go for wings at Hooters weekly. Tonight is Saturday and I'm headed back home, so it's looking like a Hooters night. with a wife like this, how could I ever even consider putting any other woman close to her place in my life. I am, as my father-in-law stated, the luckiest guy in the world.

My luck, however, does not extend to casino poker. I am up lifetime in home games and on-line, but am down in casino poker, way down. I added another $100 to my deficit last night. I was in Florida playing at the Seminole Hard Rock. I played some $1-2 limit and $2-2 limit. both games were full of donkey fish and I could not get a card. I played for 5 hours. In that time I won a total of 2 hands. One of those hands was a 5-3s played in the big blind that turned into a straight. The other was KK that pushed everyone out post-flop. That was it. The rest of the night was a slow downward spiral.

If that were all that happened, then it wouldn't be a big deal. But when the dealer on $1-2 allowed the action to go 4 players past me and deal the next card before I made my play. I was yelling to stop repeatedly and then she blamed the players for her screw-up. I immediately left that table. That also gave me relief from the over-friendly drunk on my right. He was yelling everything he said. Awful.

The $2-2 table was better as far as the players and generally the dealers, though none of them were happy to be there. I was going to order my typical kaluah and coffee from the waitress when she told me the kaluah would be $7.95! Holy guacamole, Batman!!! That's enough for an entire bottle. I pass on the kaluah. The waitress forgets the coffee so I end up dry for about 45 minutes. Then on my way out, it took $7 and about 30 minutes to get my valeted car. I miss the efficient free valet parking at the Vegas casinos.

Lastly, a few health updates. My G-mom is doing well in assisted living. She is healthier now that she is getting 3 good meals and her medicine daily. She and my mom took a trip to Virginia last week. The poor woman doesn't remember loosing her brothers and sisters. She wanted to see them. The good news is that she was able to do the trip with no physical problems.

My Uncle D was to have his operation on his esophagus. Unfortunately, his condition was worse than expected and they were not able to fix anything. He's got maybe 2 years. Mr. C, the previously mentioned father-in-law, had a scare when another spot was found. It was removed by the doctor, but there was not enough to do a proper biopsy.

That's it for now. Please try to behave.

casino poker ... its all about the energy at the table ... online and at home, you control the energy ... in vegas, they train people very well at managing the energy of the table ... pay attention to how you are feeling when sitting at a table ... if you cannot feel the energy, you cannot control it ... start practicing now, you should be ready for your tourney in vegas.

peace & harmony,

I don't see how you people can play that miserable game of Texas Hold 'Em which is the biggest joke of any poker game. You have absolutely no clue as to what card is coming up next. Pure luck! It is "gambling" at it's extreme.

The California courts rendered a decision that Seven Card Stud, Five Card Stud and Draw Poker are games of skill ( if I remember correctly). That was proven in court which is why there are card parlors in California. A skillful player in Hold 'Em doesn't exist. Just lucky ones.

By the way, if you are talking about the coffee liqueur from which the world famous "Volcano" after dinner drink is made, try spelling it right: K-A-H-L-U-A
